About Us
Erode Precision Farm Producer Company Ltd (EPFPCL) was incorporated on 16.10 2008 with 50 shareholder-farmers of Precision Farm Project, implemented by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in 150 ha at Modakurichi and Kodumudi Blocks of Erode district. After the repeated successful crops and visits to Precision Farm Project Demo Area (1000 acres) of Dharmapuri district, the idea of establishing an FPO emerged, to sustain the productivity with supply of quality inputs and adoption of innovative technologies. Agro shop was the first venture , 2nd venture was Indian Oil Corporation Fuel Centre (Fuel is key inout in agriculture) , 3rd being Food centre, 4th being Seed Processing Unit, 5th being Coconut Processing unit and the 6th being Primary Processing Centre, Palani.
The turn over per annum was around nine crores during 2013. The present turnover was around 15.00 crores per year with a member base of 650 farmers-shareholders. Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (GoI) had empanelled EPFPCL as Resource Institution to promote 7 FPOs in Tamil Nadu.TN State SFAC had awarded the 60 FPOs for promotion in TN. Presently, the SFAC-GoI, NABARD, NAFED, TNSFAC and NCDC have empanelled EPFPCL as Cluster based Business Organisation (CBBO) and assigned 30 FPOs to be promoted in Tamil Nadu and Andaman – Nicobar Islands. Now EPFPCL has emerged as Master Trainer for Farmers of TN, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana and AP.
The TN State government has honoured the EPFPCL with State Award for Best Governed FPO of TN during the Republic Day function on 26.01.21 at Chennai.
Region
We are the farmers of Kodumudi and Modakkurichi blocks of Erode district. Turmeric is the staple crop since ancestral times and hence the geographical index awarded to the crop. Tapioca, paddy, sugarcane and gingelly are the other major crops. The farm economy was not that sound to sustain the family and generations in spite of rich commercial crops due to high cost of production; hence many of the families diversified their activities into micro finance, textiles, hardwares, grocery stores, oil mills, textile mills, manufacturing of farm machineries, poultry, rice mills, coir industry and trading a farm produces in a small or big way. The company was incorporated with a fond hope to inculcate the entrepreneurial skills and capabilities to the farmers.
